SITARAIL, a subsidiary of AGL (Africa Global Logistics) which operates the Abidjan – Ouagadougou rail network, took delivery of four new GL30 or GT26 diesel-electric locomotives at the Autonomous Port of Abidjan on December 15, 2025, intended to strengthen its transport capacity and the productivity of its operations throughout the network.

These latest-generation locomotives, with a power of approximately 3,000 horsepower and 1,500 gross tons, will be a major asset in improving the availability of rolling stock and the regularity of traffic on the Ouagadougou - Abidjan corridor.

Equipped with computerized control systems, on-board diagnostics and enhanced safety equipment, the GL30 locomotives also help to reduce maintenance costs.

They also offer more ergonomic and air-conditioned cabs, significantly improving the working conditions of the driving teams. With the arrival of these four new locomotives, SITARAIL is taking a new step in the strengthening and modernization of its production facilities. In terms of impact on rail traffic, these new locomotives will enable the company to increase its service offer, particularly for private branch lines, and to secure their supply chains in the long term, while strengthening the responsiveness of rail to seasonal peaks in activity, contributing to the preservation of the road network and reducing its carbon footprint.
