State of Cameroon : AGL – CAMALCO for the Development of the Edéa–Kribi–Lolabé-Campo Railway Line
The State of Cameroon, Africa Global Logistics (AGL) and CAMALCO signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday, 4 June 2026, at the Starland Hotel in Yaoundé, covering the development of the Edéa–Kribi–Lolabé-Campo railway line.
Presided over by Jean Ernest Massena Ngallè Bibehe, Minister of Transport, the ceremony was attended by several members of the Government, Ambassadors, technical and financial partners, Mr Philippe Labonne, President of the AGL Group, and Mr Rana Pratap Singh of CAMALCO.
This Memorandum of Understanding marks a pivotal step in structuring a public-private partnership covering the updating of studies, design, financial engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of this strategic railway infrastructure, listed among the priority projects of the National Development Strategy 2030 (SND30).
A structuring project for national connectivity and territorial development
The future Edéa–Kribi–Lolabé-Campo railway line will strengthen connectivity between production areas, the Autonomous Port of Kribi and the southern regions of the country, thereby facilitating the movement of people, commercial and logistics flows, while supporting the development of new economic hubs. It responds in particular to the need to support the scale-up of major mining projects, notably the evacuation of bauxite from the Minim Martap deposit with estimated reserves of 144 million tonnes, as well as the integrated industrial and logistics zone of the deep-water port of Kribi.
Partners united around an integrated vision of logistics development
This partnership brings together the State of Cameroon, as custodian of the national railway network development vision, Africa Global Logistics (AGL), a leading transport and logistics operator, and CAMALCO, a key player in mining development in Cameroon.
AGL, a key driver of port-rail integration in Cameroon
AGL plays a strategic role in strengthening the competitiveness of the Autonomous Port of Kribi. As operator and majority shareholder of Kribi Container Terminal (KCT) and KPIZ- the SPV managing the industrial and logistics zone of the Port of Kribi, the Group actively contributes to the development of these major infrastructures for socio-economic growth, and regional and international trade. AGL positions itself as a key enabler of multimodal logistics chain integration and the efficient development of corridors, essential to Africa's growth in general, and Cameroon's in particular.
CAMALCO, a strategic investor serving the mining sector
A Cameroonian subsidiary of Australian group Canyon Resources, CAMALCO has established itself as a major player in the national mining industry. Committed to developing the Minim Martap bauxite project, the company plans a total investment of USD 446 million, targeting annual production of 10 million tonnes of high-quality bauxite. Founded in 2018, CAMALCO plays a key role in strengthening Cameroon's mining capabilities, combining technical expertise, structuring investments and logistics partnerships. Its commitment to developing transport infrastructure, notably through significant investments in rolling stock and logistics equipment is a critical lever for ensuring the competitiveness and sustainability of the sector.
