On October 14, 2024, Kribi Containers Terminal (KCT), the manager of the Container Terminal of the Port of Kribi, welcomed the second vessel carrying port handling equipment to the docks of Phase II of the Port. The equipment received consists of 13 RTGs (gantry cranes), 02 Reach stackers (container handlers) and 03 Empty Handlers (empty container handlers). This port handling equipment, which is in addition to the 05 STS (quay gantries) and 02 park gantries received on September 12, represents an investment of 80 million dollars (about 49 billion CFA francs).

On an area of 33 hectares, a draught of 16 meters and a quay length of 715 m, the new KCT terminal will be equipped with: 7 Dock Gantry Cranes, 25 Yard Gantry Cranes, 5 Reach Stackers, 48 Port Tractors, 58 Trailers, 5 Empty Handlers, 7 Weighbridges, 1 Maintenance Truck, 6 Forklifts,  1 workshop and 1 administrative building under construction. The overall budget of these investments (equipment, structures and infrastructure) dedicated to phase 2 of the deployment of KCT amounts to 114 million US dollars, or about 70 billion CFA francs.

Thanks to its new infrastructure developed in compliance with environmental requirements and standards, Kribi Containers Terminal, certified Green Terminal, will be able to accommodate larger capacity vessels, coming directly from Asia, the Indian subcontinent and Europe. With this development, KCT will be able to triple the capacity of the container terminal to reach the threshold of one million containers handled (TEUs) and confirm its status as a reference hub serving the economy of Cameroon and the sub-region.
