On 26 June 2026, Congo Terminal completed the driving of the steel piles that form the foundation of the future East Quay. A total of 558 piles were installed, using a quantity of steel equivalent to three times the weight of the Eiffel Tower.

These piles form the foundation of the quay, an essential element of a port as it enables ships to dock and be loaded and unloaded safely. By ensuring the stability of the new port platform in the face of mechanical and environmental stresses, the piles guarantee the reliability and durability of port operations. They measure between 20 and 35 metres in length and 1.50 to 1.80 metres in diameter. Carried out with meticulous precision, this stage determines the strength of the structure for decades to come.

The completion of the pile driving marks a significant milestone in the construction schedule for the East Quay. It confirms the momentum generated by Congo Terminal with a view to delivering, in the first half of 2027, a port infrastructure that lives up to the ambitions of the Congo and the sub-region.
