Africa Global Logistics (AGL) today unveiled the selection of start-ups that will make up the first cohort of its “Accelerate” program, launched at its Yiri Innovation Center. This open innovation program is designed to accelerate the growth of African start-ups or start-ups oriented towards the African market, focusing on technological solutions that meet the specific challenges and needs of the continent’s logistics and industrial sectors.
This initiative illustrates AGL’s commitment to supporting the development of African entrepreneurial dynamism by strengthening the local ecosystem and stimulating innovation on the continent. Following the call for projects launched last June, and after a careful analysis of the 91 applications received, 6 start-ups were selected for this first cohort. They represent the diversity and richness of African innovation with several projects such as:
- Paps (Senegal): Specialist in last-mile logistics
Paps aims to become the leader in local distribution in West Africa, with operations in Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Benin. The company offers an end-to-end logistics solution, aimed at revolutionizing the sector and accelerating its growth to reach an international dimension.
- Appload (Mozambique): Marketplace for freight transport
Appload connects companies wishing to transport freight with road carriers via an innovative digital platform, simplifying transport processes in Southern Africa.
- Eazy Chain (Togo): Maritime Transport Specialist
Eazy Chain aims to improve connections between secondary ports and major ports in West Africa, through feeder vessels, contributing to the sustainability and efficiency of maritime transport while reducing costs and environmental impact
- Tambour (Ivory Coast): Digital laundry service
Tambour Laverie offers a mobile application for laundry management, offering collection, cleaning, drying, ironing and delivery services. Initially launched with an app aimed at individuals, Tambour is now geared towards professionals, optimizing laundry services for increased efficiency and sustainability.
- ALAL (Senegal): Intelligent Fuel Management
ALAL is developing QR code technology to streamline and secure fuel transactions at service stations, increasing the efficiency of operations in the energy sector.
- Alia (Côte d’Ivoire): Intelligent legal assistant
ALIA offers an innovative legal solution for African companies, offering simplified access to laws and regulations via a digital platform. This intelligent assistant improves compliance, increases productivity, and reduces legal risk by providing reliable information on applicable laws, including logistics and transportation.
The winners of this first edition of the “Accelerate” program will benefit from tailor-made support under the sponsorship of AGL experts. Each start-up will have its objectives defined and measured regularly, in particular during a mid-term “Pitch Day”.
By supporting start-ups that develop sustainable and innovative solutions to the continent’s challenges, the “Accelerate” program aligns with Africa’s development priorities. Whether it is a question of facilitating the transport of goods, reducing the environmental impact of transport, or improving access to essential services, this program is part of a long-term dynamic in favor of African economic and technological development.
