Philippe Labonne, President of AGL (Africa Global Logistics), has been appointed Chairman of the Africa Committee of MEDEF International. He succeeds Momar Nguer, who has been chairman of the committee since 2019.
Since 2015, Philippe Labonne has been President of Africa Global Logistics, a French group based in Puteaux and leader in logistics and port activities in Africa. With more than 30 years of experience in the management of logistics activities, particularly in Africa, he has worked to develop the first African integrated logistics network that mobilizes 23,000 African employees in 47 countries and cooperates with more than 10,000 African SMEs. The action of MEDEF International’s Africa Committee will be in line with the priorities of the African Union’s Agenda 2063, including the establishment of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The committee will promote the positive footprint of French companies on the continent in terms of creating virtuous ecosystems with local stakeholders. In partnership with African employers, it will co-construct a response adapted to the challenges of African youth through initiatives led by African and French companies.
«I am honored by the trust placed in me and by this new mission within MEDEF International. I would like to thank and pay tribute to my predecessor, Momar Nguer, for his outstanding work at the helm of the committee. I want to follow in the footsteps of the actions he has been able to undertake to promote partnership projects and opportunities, support the strengthening of trade within the region and its integration with the rest of the world, and contribute to sustainable and inclusive economic growth in Africa » said Philippe Labonne, Presidentof AGL.
