Pangaea X, MSC Foundation and AGL announce the 10 finalists of the 2024 Africa Innovation Hackathon

Pangaea X, MSC Foundation and AGL are proud to announce the finalists of the Hackathon which will take place from 30 to 1June 2024 in the city of Assinie, Côte d’Ivoire.

For this first 2024 edition, the Hackathon attracted 314 participants in 91 teams, each composed of 2 to 4 young Ivorians wishing to embark on sustainable innovation. Each team, made up of 54% women and 46% men, worked intensively on various innovative projects relating to waste recycling, biodegradable packaging, virtual reality, etc.

After an evaluation by an expert jury composed of representatives from AGL, Horn Foundation and MSC Foundation, 10 teams were selected to take part in the Hackathon final. They are:

 

  • Ivoiregreengenius: Advanced Recycling Center

 

  • PLANT-AIR: Organic Urban Agriculture

 

  • READY : Food Waste Composting

 

  • Impact Ladies: Recycling and sustainable reward

 

  • MEDEV: Flood crisis management

 

  • GrennCulturaTech : Climate Change Information

 

  • TANEBITO: Recycling and recovery of PET

 

  • Siboré : Banana fibres for aesthetics

 

  • J2K: Mangrove Conservation VR Game

 

  • Ivoire Straw : Biodegradable straw packaging

The 10 finalists will take advantage of the Hackathon to refine their ideas, before presenting their work through a pitch in front of the jury which will designate the overall winner of the Pangaea X Côte d’Ivoire Hackathon on June 1st.

The winning team of the first prize will benefit from an incubation at Pangaea X in Europe, including an enriching trip to Switzerland and Paris and the possibility of winning €20,000, or about 13 million FCFA, to develop their project.

In addition, the winner of the AGL Hackathon Coup de Coeur award will join the incubation program of Yiri, the innovation center of Africa Global Logistics (AGL), based in Abidjan. This technological laboratory will offer these young entrepreneurs specific support programs that will enable them to acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to make their business project a reality.
