IVORY COAST : AGL MOBILIZES ITS EMPLOYEES IN THE FIGHT AGAINST BREAST CANCER

On October 17, 2024, AGL and its entities in Côte d’Ivoire, namely: AGL Côte d’Ivoire, Abidjan Terminal, Côte d’Ivoire Terminal, SITARAIL and CARENA organized breast cancer screening sessions for all their employees. This action, which is part of the Pink October initiative, aims to encourage employees to take charge of their health and to highlight the importance of early detection as a means of prevention.

«Breast cancer has now become a public health problem whose treatment costs remain relatively high for populations. As a corporate citizen, AGL makes a concrete contribution through its actions to raising awareness and improving treatment conditions for women affected by this pathology, by offering them the chance to start their treatment in the best conditions. » Asta-Rosa Cissé I Regional Director of AGL Ivory Coast-Burkina Faso

Aware of the crucial importance of offering quality care to patients, the company has also provided radiotherapy sessions for 150 women with breast cancer, in partnership with the National Cancer Control Program (PNLC).

AGL has also subsidized the purchase of medical inputs and equipment for free breast cancer screenings for hundreds of women in Abidjan and San Pedro. This action represents a decisive step in the treatment process of these patients, who often face difficulties in accessing care due to their social conditions.

In addition, a virtual conference was organized on the theme: “Epidemiology and diagnosis of breast cancer”, in order to raise awareness on the importance of early detection, the causes, risk factors and means of prevention of this pathology. This conference has also strengthened the knowledge of AGL employees in Côte d’Ivoire on breast cancer and the means to better protect themselves from it.

In addition in San Pedro, a city located 350 kilometers from Abidjan and home to the world’s leading cocoa export port, AGL Côte d’Ivoire teams organized screening sessions for all women in this entity. Through these initiatives, AGL reaffirms its commitment to the health and well-being of populations.
