AGL Senegal makes its mark on the El Hadji Bara Guèye school and pledges to support its academic performance

This day, instituted by the Group’s Chairman, will henceforth be held on September 25, 2024 each year, to mark the strong orientation of the new “A.G.L” brand. AGL’s mission is “to be at the heart of transformations in Africa” is determined to give concrete expression to its gratitude to the countries and peoples who offer it hospitality.

On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, AGL Group employees in Senegal mobilized en masse to take an active part in two major events:

  • The organization of a day of free consultation, care, prescriptions and meal sharing with over two hundred (200) truck drivers operating on the Senegal / Mali corridor.

  • The rehabilitation and painting of buildings, the installation of new doors and windows, and the cleaning of the courtyard and beach of the Groupe Scolaire El Hadji Bara GUEYE, adjacent to AGL SENEGAL’s head office, for more than 25 million CFA francs. In addition to the AGL SENEGAL Group’s direct contribution, AGL SENEGAL employees, strongly imbued with the values of solidarity and sharing, decided to make a substantial donation of school supplies for the pupils. The rehabilitated school has been in operation since 1957, with some 1,300 pupils.

The aim of this major initiative is to demonstrate our social commitment and solidarity with local populations.

«This day gave me a better understanding of my teammates' unconditional commitment to CSR projects. Indeed, voluntarily and massively, the employees were keen to mobilize large batches of school equipment which were donated to our children and, in some cases, to their little sisters and brothers. This event, initiated by the Chairman of our Group, aims to awaken in each of us two lessons: solidarity, humanity and recognition. Tomorrow, competitiveness, profitability and performance will only be weak indicators next to social commitment. We will continue and reinforce our solidarity actions throughout the year, for our own happiness and that of our fellow human beings.» Mohamed Diop, Regional Manager Atlantic Africa
