AGL Congo steps up its zero waste commitment

On 3 April 2024, to mark World Zero Waste Day, AGL Congo’s QHSE team raised awareness among employees and subcontractors about the 3Rs: reduce, reuse and recycle waste. More than 500 people took part in this activity, which was organised on the operational sites and resulted in the collection and sorting of around 300 kg of waste, which was entrusted to a subcontractor for recycling.

During this awareness-raising event, particular emphasis was placed on waste reduction. By demonstrating the negative impact of waste on the environment, each participant was encouraged to review his or her attitude in order to generate as little waste as possible.

«As a result of our partnerships with local players, our used tyres are now transformed into furniture, coffee capsules and corks into jewellery, and used oil is recycled. We want to go further by involving our employees and subcontractors in a participative approach to reduce our waste to a strict minimum, which will then be reused or recycled» Destaing LOUKOMBO, HSE Manager
