AGL celebrates World Plastics Day in Congo

On July 3, 2024, on the occasion of World Plastics Day, the companies AGL Congo and Congo Terminal joined forces with the CBVPE (Goodwill Club for the Preservation of the Environment) to clean up nearly 2km of coastal beach in Pointe-Noire. Nearly 150 people took part in this activity on this beach which adjoins the fishing village. About 1500 kg of plastic waste was collected during this operation and entrusted to a subcontractor for recycling.

In the same vein, Congo Terminal in partnership with Renatura, an NGO specialising in the promotion of sustainable development and the protection of sea turtles, is organising awareness-raising campaigns on environmental preservation and plastic management. Thanks to this agreement between 2016 and 2024, more than 350,000 children have raised awareness in public schools in Pointe-Noire and its surroundings.

Last year, the company supported the CBVPE’s “the beach is not a garbage can” initiative to raise awareness among tourists, traders and street vendors walking along the beaches of Pointe-Noire and Kouilou on the issue of plastic waste management with the aim of fighting against marine pollution and strengthening the eco-responsible commitment of the population.
