Africa Global Logistics explores role in enhancing agricultural production at the 5th private sector CEO retreat

Africa Global Logistics (AGL) played a vital role in shaping the conversation around improving Uganda’s agricultural value chain during the 5th Bi-annual Private Sector CEO Retreat, held from 12th to 14th September 2024 in Gulu City. Organised by the Presidential CEO Forum (PCF), this high-profile event attracted leading figures from both the private sector and government to discuss strategic measures for economic transformation, with a focus on Northern Uganda.

The retreat, themed “Battle Green Field: Transforming Northern Uganda into a Commercialised Production & Logistical Hub for Exports,” provided a platform for stakeholders to explore ways to unlock the agricultural and logistical potential of the region.

AGL, represented by Winnie Aketch in a key panel discussion, contributed insights into the critical role that transport, and logistics play in boosting agricultural production and improving market access.

During the panel discussion, titled “The Role of AGL in Enhancing the Agricultural Production Cycle through Transport and Logistics,” Winnie highlighted the importance of modern logistics infrastructure in reducing inefficiencies across the agricultural supply chain.

The 5th Bi-annual Private Sector CEO Retreat, inaugurated by H.E. President Yoweri Museveni in 2021, continues to serve as a critical forum for dialogue between the private sector and government, aimed at achieving the shared goal of turning Northern Uganda into a competitive logistical hub for exports. The event drew the participation of corporate leaders, government officials, and industry experts, all focused on fostering development through collaboration.

AGL’s participation in the retreat highlights the company’s broader mission to enhance Uganda’s transport and logistics infrastructure, contributing to the country’s overall economic progress. By focusing on the agricultural sector, AGL aims to ensure that farmers and producers have access to markets, thus driving growth across the value chain.
