OCT strengthens its operational capacity with the acquisition of new state-of-the-art gantry cranes
As part of the development of Owendo Container Terminal’s (OCT) activities, the company announces the receipt of five yard gantry cranes (RTG) and two quay gantry cranes (STS). This strategic acquisition now brings OCT’s equipment fleet to a total of nine RTGs and four STSs, enhancing the capacity and efficiency of the terminal’s port operations.
The five new gantry cranes will be deployed on OCT’s most popular import fleet, replacing the reach stackers. This state-of-the-art equipment, with twice the lifting speed of existing RTGs and capable of reaching up to seven rows of containers, will significantly optimize container storage and handling at the terminal.
The two new dock gantry cranes, manufactured by ZPMC, the world’s leading port equipment company, can now lift two containers simultaneously and achieve a span of 20 rows on the vessel, far outperforming the previous models limited to 13 rows. With lifting speeds of 82 meters per minute, these STS gantry cranes will help reduce vessel stopover time and streamline overall port operations.
