SOGECO celebrates two years of accident-free operation on the Grand Tortue Ahmeyim project
Société Générale de Consignation Maritime (SOGECO), a subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics in Mauritania, awarded a prize to its staff and partners on Saturday 27 April 2024 in Nouakchott, after more than 2 years of logistical success and no accidents, on the ‘Grand Tortue/Ahmeyim’ (GTA) project. The occasion was World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
SOGECO is celebrating 840,000 operational working hours without incident as part of the logistics for this gas project on the border between Mauritania and Senegal, operated by the British company British Petroleum (BP) and the engineering company McDermott.
Selected to set up the logistics base for storing and transporting the subsea flowlines (SURF) linking the wells to the FPSO, as well as the subsea system (SPS) for the gas field since 2021, SOGECO has handled more than 500 calls through the ports of Nouakchott and Ndiago, transporting 200,000 tonnes of freight and more than 150,000 lifting operations.
During this celebration, SOGECO awarded trophies to a wide range of players (BP, the Autonomous Port of Nouakchott (PANPA), the gendarmerie and the police) operating in the fields of security, safety, health and logistics.

The aim of the ceremony was to celebrate the professionalism and excellence of the company’s employees, who have kept SOGECO accident-free for over 2 years.
